Incase you werent aware, I was represented in the Union Project's booth at the Three Rivers Arts Festival this past weekend. To those of you who were aware and may have visited our booth and purchased some local handmade art, many thanks go out to you! It truely is appreciated.
To those of you who weren't able to visit or those of you who are kicking yourself for not coming back to pick up that one piece of pottery before the art was packed up and the tents came down, DO NOT FRET, I have good news! Along with a facelift to the website, my Etsy Shop and the NEW Shop on this site, will be newly stocked with lots of leftover goodies from the Three Rivers Arts Fest, and even some that have not made an appearance in the public eye. So keep an eye open because there are big things happening here and some good things to come! -Ben

It's been a while since I've been able to sit down and update the website, but today I made some progress!
The shop on this site has gone away. Will it be back? Maybe, one day. But I have begun to upload inventory to my Etsy Shop in the hopes to start unloading some inventory from my parents basement. My parents are in the middle of a making a move and things need to go. My pots are in need of a good home and the Etsy Shop will be the main point of sale. As you can imagine, I've stockpiled quite a bit of inventory over the years, and some of the older pots will be priced in the shop at a lower rate and I plan (hope) to run some sales and bargains (BOGO!) in the coming days and weeks. So be sure to keep coming back and checking out the new listings, and most importantly, HELP MY POTS FIND NEW HOMES! (you'll also be helping my parents move) -BEN Pottery is packaged and in the mail. This X&O mug is on it's way to the LUX Center for the Arts in Lincoln, Nebraska for the Mug Shots VII show. Here's a link to the website where you'll be able to view all the mugs in the gallery. http://luxcenter.org/gallery/7th-mug-shots/ So I know it's been a long time since my last post, but I've been working on new pots, finding new inspirations, and still keeping close ties to previous work. Lately I've been making work with doninated with vertical lines and spattered with patterns and this XOXO/tic-tac-toe theme. I'm very pleased with the under glaze color schemes and the way the top coat glaze has been turning out. Excited to see where this direction will take me! What do you think of this new work? The Shop is open again! It has been reorganized and restocked! Be sure to check it out! Also, if you are in the Airport Area on Saturday, December 7th, some of my work will be on sale at the West Hills Art League Holiday Sale at Robin Hill Park in Moon Township. The sale only runs for a few hours (from 9am-1pm) so be sure to get there early. There is going to be a lot of great work from a lot of great local artists. I've also got a few tests out of the kiln.. and although I like where this work is headed, I've definitely got some work to do and somethings to tweek. -Ben So about a month ago I bought a few hundred pounds of a cone6 English Porcelain and I decided I was going to attempt to make and develop some pots as glazes that I could fire in the electric kiln.
This is going to give me some brighter colors and will be something different. The porcelain is really finicky opposed to how easy it is to work with the stoneware I typically use. I've had some casualties and some cracking around the handles, but I should have some glaze tests done this week and hopefully get some new things in the shop! Overall I've been pleased with the new work. Pretty excited to see how things turn out! From now until Mother's Day, May 12th, everything in the shop is discounted! And better yet, FREE SHIPPING!
So jump on it, check out the shop and grab something for the Mom in your life, because the shipping is on me! -Ben I've been working on some new forms, new surface designs, and new glazes. This is a little sneak preview of what's in store.
Speaking of "store"... The site shop will be up and running tomorrow! Be sure to check back and tell your friends. I've got a limited supply so don't hesitate! Thanks for the support and be sure to check the site out tomorrow! And Happy Mardi Gras! -Ben I've been working hard on getting the shop page on this site up and running and I'm shooting for a launch date early next week.
Estimated shop launch date: Tuesday, February 12, 2013. So keep your eyes and ears open, and revisit the site on #mugshotmonday and Tuesday to check out the shop! -Ben |
